Public preview Unsigned installer

Modex Desktop is an early public preview, and the installer is not code-signed yet. Windows will show Windows protected your PC and name an Unknown publisher. To continue, choose More info → Run anyway.

Verify your download, and what we will never ask you to do

Because it is unsigned, verify the file before you run it. In PowerShell or Command Prompt, in the folder you downloaded to:

certutil -hashfile Modex-Desktop-x64.exe SHA256

Compare the result with the SHA-256 published on the release page. If they differ, delete the file and download it again — do not run it.

Some antivirus engines flag unsigned installers built on Electron as generically “packed”, whether or not anything is wrong with them. We see this on this build too. It is the same reason the publisher shows as unknown, and it is why we publish the hash: check the SHA-256 above, and if it matches, the file you have is the file we built.

We will never ask you to disable Windows Defender or any security software. If your antivirus quarantines the download, restore it only after the hash matches the published value.
